Grow Your Business Skills with Practical Training and Ensure Government Compliance through the Chamber's TBAS Program

If you look around Tobago, it is apparent that many businesses are able to thrive, even when their owners' expertise is limited to one specific area. But then there are the other kinds of businesses. The kinds of businesses that require their owners to have business expertise in other domains.

The chamber recognised this as a real business problem sometime ago, and in our talks, we narrowed the types of expertise down to five specific areas that may, or may not, be needed for some businesses to ever have a chance at being successful.

And those areas are marketing, sales, delivery, operations and finance.

Once this was acknowledged, we set out to create an education arm under our Tobago Business Advisory Services unit.

But then...

We also recognised that one more area, as important as the five named above, was just as poorly dealt with in the realm of business in Tobago. And it is the area of government-compliance, which includes activities like registering your business, filing your annual returns, registering with the Office of Procurement Registration, etc.

So we decided to focus on both areas in our push to help Tobago small businesses.

We officially launched our TBAS arm in November of 2024, and all of what we offer can be seen by visiting our Courses or Government-Compliance Services.

FAQS

Is anyone eligible to participate in your programs or only your members?

Our programs are offered to anyone willing to participate in them.

What's the cost of your program offerings?

Though we're unsure of the exact cost of each of our offerings at this point, we do know we'll be offering two tiers of pricing; one for our members and another for non-members.

Where will your programs be offered and what format will they be offered in?

As we're now starting out, our programs will be offered exclusively in-person at our Chamber office, but eventually they'll be done both in-person and virtually.

Are your programs done in groups or in one-on-one settings?

Both our courses and our government-compliance services are done in a one-to-many fashion. However, with respect to our courses, there may be the scenario where someone feels like it should be one-on-one, and in those circumstances we will accommodate at a greater cost.
